Shipping & Returns Policy
Getting a Macaw from our aviary to your home safely is one of the most important parts of the process. Macaws are large, intelligent, sensitive birds, and shipping them requires planning, proper carriers, climate awareness, and careful timing. We take that responsibility seriously. Every Macaw we ship travels in a secure, species-appropriate carrier with ventilation, perch access, and hydration, and we schedule transport to minimize stress and avoid extreme temperatures.
We offer the following shipping options:
-
Airline cargo shipping — the most common and reliable method for long-distance transport. Flights are typically direct or with minimal stops, and you will be given flight details, tracking information, and pickup instructions in advance.
-
Ground transport — available for certain regions, especially where air travel is impractical or during weather conditions that make cargo travel unsafe.
-
Local pickup — always welcome. If you are able to visit our aviary in person, we encourage it. Meeting your Macaw before bringing it home is the best possible start.
-
Delivery coordination — in some cases we can arrange delivery through a trusted pet transport service. Availability and cost depend on your location.
Shipping costs vary based on your location, the size of the bird, the carrier used, and current airline or transport rates. We will provide a clear quote before you commit, with no hidden fees.
Preparing for Your Macaw’s Arrival
Shipping does not end when the bird leaves us—it ends when your Macaw is safely settled in your home. Before arrival, please:
-
Confirm your pickup logistics. Know your airport or delivery location, bring photo ID, and arrive early.
-
Have the habitat ready. Set up the cage, perches, food, and water before your Macaw arrives so it can settle in immediately.
-
Plan for quiet. The first 24 to 48 hours should be calm and low-traffic. Give your Macaw time to decompress.
-
Schedule your avian vet exam. Your health guarantee requires an examination within 72 hours of arrival, so book it in advance.
-
Have the right diet on hand. High-quality formulated pellets, fresh vegetables, and leafy greens should be ready before your bird arrives.
Weather and Travel Delays
We will not ship a Macaw in conditions that put its health at risk. Extreme heat, extreme cold, severe storms, and airline embargoes can delay shipment. If a delay occurs, we will contact you immediately and reschedule at no additional cost to you. We would rather delay a flight than compromise a bird’s wellbeing.
Returns and Cancellations
Because live animals require careful planning on both sides, our return and cancellation policy is specific:
-
Cancellations before shipping. If you cancel before your Macaw is shipped, your deposit may be refunded or credited at our discretion, depending on how far along the process has progressed and whether the bird was reserved specifically for you.
-
Cancellations after shipping. Once a Macaw has been shipped or picked up, the sale is final. We cannot accept returns simply because a buyer changes their mind, as this creates serious health and stress risks for the bird.
-
Health-related returns. If your avian veterinarian identifies a qualifying pre-existing condition within the guarantee window, our Health Guarantee applies. In that case, the bird must be returned to us before a replacement or refund is issued.
-
Non-refundable costs. Shipping fees, airline charges, veterinary expenses, and transport costs are non-refundable.
Live Arrival Guarantee
We stand behind our shipping process. If a Macaw does not arrive alive and in good condition due to transport-related causes, you must notify us immediately upon pickup—before leaving the airport or delivery location—and provide documentation, including photos and any carrier or airline reports. Claims must be submitted within 24 hours of arrival. If validated, we will replace the bird with one of equal value or issue a refund for the purchase price, at our discretion. Failure to notify us at the time of pickup may void this guarantee.
Our Commitment
Shipping a live animal is a privilege, not a transaction. We coordinate every detail with your bird’s comfort and safety as the priority, keep you informed at every step, and stay available for questions before, during, and after arrival. If you have concerns about shipping to your area, contact us before purchasing—we will tell you honestly what is possible and what is not.
